Small projects. Big Impact.
Cultural journey for toddlers and their parents
Our project consists of creating a parent-child drop-in center that aims to foster the artistic and cultural development of families living in the Pontaise, Borde, and Ancien Stand areas of Lausanne.
Target audience
The main target audience for this socio-cultural project are families, in particular parents and children (aged 2 to 5) from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Your project in detail
Our project consists in creating a space for parents and children that aims to encourage the artistic and cultural development of families living in the Pontaise, Borde, and Ancien Stand areas of Lausanne. We are aware of the economic difficulties encountered by this population, as well as their difficulty in gaining access to art and culture. Our aim is to encourage children's cultural awareness from an early age while enabling parents to share special moments with their little ones. For over a year now, we've been running a drop-in program for parents and their children at the Maison de Quartier de la Pontaise. These take place every Wednesday morning. We are determined to improve and extend these services for parents and children by offering cultural activities. The aim of the parent-child drop-in center we wish to develop is to create a warm environment where families can take part in artistic and cultural activities adapted to preschool-age children and their parents. We plan to set up creative workshops, shows, film screenings, readings, exhibition visits, and cultural outings. To bring this project to fruition, we plan to collaborate with local artists and cultural institutions in Lausanne (HEMU, Bibliothèque de Lausanne, Association les "Passeurs de mots", Association "Les Bouquinistes"). We will also be working closely with local associations and schools in the area to reach as many families as possible. In short, our parent-child project aims to offer families accessible artistic and cultural activities, adapted to their needs, and promoting social inclusion in their neighborhood. We firmly believe in the importance of art and culture in the development of individuals, and we want to offer these families an opportunity to open up to new and enriching experiences.
Target audience: The main target audience for this socio-cultural project is families, in particular parents and children (aged 2 to 5) from disadvantaged backgrounds. This means that the project must be accessible to all, without any restrictions based on socio-economic criteria. Activities must be free of charge to enable everyone to participate, but fees may be charged for more expensive cultural outings.
Provisional timetable: The project will take place over a 30-week period in 2024. Meetings and workshops will take place every Wednesday morning and some weekends (excluding school vacations). Provisional timetable for our cultural project for parents and preschool children:
Project evaluation: To evaluate the results and impact of our project, we plan to set up regular exchanges with families to gather their feedback and assess whether our actions are in line with their expectations. These exchanges could take the form of questionnaires or group meetings, depending on families' preferences and availability. In addition to these qualitative exchanges, we will also use quantitative criteria to evaluate our project. We will identify the number of participants in our workshops, taking into account their regular attendance. This will enable us to measure the commitment of families and the appeal of our activities. Although our workshops are aimed in particular at families with little social and cultural capital, we are also keen to bring different audiences together
