- Your project in detail
- LGBTQI+ seniors face unique challenges: isolation, discrimination and rejection from loved ones and/or institutions. As they age, these people find themselves in an environment where they can't be themselves. Our project aims to change that! We want to offer an inclusive, secure living space, where each person can age in peace, without fear of judgment and marginalization. This place will be not only a home, but also a supportive community where residents can benefit from personalized support, services adapted to their needs and, above all, a caring environment. Our aim is twofold: 1. Collaborate with existing structures to ensure that our services complement those currently offered in Lausanne. 2. Fight isolation by creating a place where every LGBTQI+ senior is respected and valued, for example by creating clusters in institutions or sheltered housing complexes, or even dedicated and why not also intergenerational shared accommodation. With the name Rainbow House, we want to symbolize a space where diversity is celebrated and where everyone can live in dignity and authenticity. These homes will offer a quality of life adapted to the evolving needs of seniors, while promoting autonomy. Why Lausanne? Because it's an open city, committed to inclusion. Lausanne's cultural and social diversity enables us to develop innovative initiatives that meet the specific needs of communities that are often marginalized. This Maison Arc-en-ciel project could fit in very well with the future Prés de Vidy eco-neighborhood project. We firmly believe that housing where LGBTQI+ seniors can live serenely, surrounded by a caring community, is essential for their self-fulfilment and enables their integration and participation in the life of the neighbourhood and the city. This project is a concrete response to the growing demand for sheltered and inclusive housing, and fits in perfectly with the canton's Vieillir2030 strategy. We are committed to complementing existing structures and invite everyone who shares our values to support this initiative and contribute to the creation of a serene living environment for LGBTQI+ seniors in Lausanne.
