Micro Participatory Budget 2023
Small projects. Big Impact.
Coworking daycare center
We created Lausanne's first solidarity coworking / daycare center in early 2023. Our aim? To enable parents to work on their professional project while their child is being looked after by volunteers of all ages. Our aim? To be accessible to all by offering our services at very low cost or free of charge (for parents unable to pay) and by locating us right in the heart of the city (Place de la Gare).
Target audience
Mainly Lausanne mothers without a complete childcare solution, wishing to have time for their professional project. Main current beneficiaries: Families without family support (the main form of childcare in Switzerland) or with limited/insufficient crèche places; single-parent families; mothers wishing to separate or in the early stages of separation; parents working part-time, looking for work, developing an entrepreneurial project or completing training in order to reintegrate professionally.
Your project in detail
The arrival of children is almost systematically correlated with a halt or reduction in working hours for women in Switzerland (Source: Family Report 2021 Federal Statistical Office). This is a source of impoverishment and isolation for many mothers. The association has therefore set out to resolve one of the main obstacles to mothers' professional integration: the lack of childcare / inadequate care for pre-school-age children. To do this, we provide parents with a coworking space, combined with childcare, all at a lower cost. As our association is in its first year, many parents are still unfamiliar with it. The results of our pilot project show that they come to our space for several weeks or even months at a time (while they are training or looking for a job), and that it's mainly through word of mouth that our beneficiaries hear about us. We still have a great deal of work to do to raise awareness among Lausanne families. We would therefore like to obtain financial support to put in place appropriate communications to enable all Lausanne parents to find out about our existence and benefit from our services. Primary objective of our new communication campaign: To make our structure known to as many young Lausanne mothers as possible, so as to fill 100% of our slots. Secondary objective: Invite as many potential new beneficiaries as possible to an event on the theme of "Reconciling work and motherhood", which we will be organizing on our premises at the end of February 2024. To this end, we are planning a poster campaign on certain TL bus routes from January onwards, as well as a targeted campaign on Instagram to invite young parents to our event.
When will your project be rolled out?
The communication campaign will take place at the end of January / beginning of February 2024, the event will take place at the end of February 2024.
Budget: 3500 CHF
